I’ve Never Found My Tribe Online, So I’m Building It
The story behind Be a BOB and the tribe I hope to build around it
Be a BOB came about when I started to narrow down what my niche actually was.
I have three main interests: creating, self-development, and politics. But while I’m very interested in politics and have a fair grasp of it, I am scared of the subject and feel I am probably out of my depth. So, I felt okay putting that to the side and focusing on the other two key areas: self-development (actualisation) and creation.
But I felt I couldn’t pick just one and throw out the other. I didn’t want to separate my efforts, as I’ve done in the past, where I’m getting nowhere on multiple fronts. So, I looked into combining the two areas.
I came up with some keywords: create, overcome and become. The latter two define my journey.
I realised that if I changed create to build, I created the acronym BOB:
Build. Overcome. Become.
Then I thought I should focus on people like me: creative types who have also overcome a lot of issues and are focused on becoming their best selves.
I’ve never really found my tribe online, so I’m trying to create one for people who not only create or build, but also have a growth mindset. They want to actively overcome their problems, or have done so, and are on a journey of becoming.
A lot of the personality traits that make up a creator are also found in someone who wants to grow. Both of those things I can help with, hopefully finding like-minded souls along the way.
